Young Masters announces exhibition dates for 2014 edition

The Young Masters Art Prize was established by gallerist Cynthia Corbett in 2009 with the aim of celebrating young and emerging artists who pay homage to the skills and traditions of the past. This year sees the fourth edition of Young Masters; with two exhibitions taking place at Sphinx Fine Art, from 14 until 31 October, and at the Lloyds Club, from 15 September until 5 December 2014. The prize received over 300 submissions, including the following shortlisted artists: Alice Palmer, a textile designer who uses industrial machines to create knitted artworks in a tapestry style; Caterina Voltolini, a painter whose self portraits are inspired by Fra Angelico and Giotto and Red Saunders, a photographer who has created a series of photographs inspired by the paintings of Rembrandt, Velazquez and Caravaggio. Three prizes will be awarded by the judges: an overall prize of £1,500 and two highly commended prizes of £500 each. The winning artists will also be have the chance to exhibit their work abroad, as part of the 2015 Young Masters International Tour.
