New co-directors for Fotomuseum Winterthur announced

Zurich, 8 July 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA). Thomas Seelig and Duncan Forbes have been named the new directors of the Fotomuseum Winterthur, a role which they assumed in June. Born in Cologne in 1964, Thomas Seelig has participated in the development of the Fotomuseum Winterthur since 2003. As a curator, he conceived some of the museum’s most significant exhibitions. He studied Visual Communications and Photography at the Fachhochschule Bielefield, and completed a curatorial programme at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Masstricht, before joining the museum’s staff. Duncan Forbes was born in Paris in 1967. From 2009 onwards, he served as the Curator of the National Galleries of Scotland, where he was responsible for the photography collections of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, ARTISTS ROOMS in collaboration with Tate, and the national collection held at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. He holds a doctorate in Art History from the University of St Andrews, and has taught at the University of Aberdeen. His writing on contemporary and historical photography has been widely published.
