Lehmann Maupin in Chelsea?

Lehmann Maupin has announced the opening of a new space in Chelsea, West 24th Street and 10th Avenue. Its opening is scheduled for 2017. This new space will be offering 8,500 m2 over three floors. The design of this space has been entrusted to architect Peter Marino. The space will be hosting public exhibitions, private rooms and offices. The new space is to become the main space for the gallery’s activity. David Maupin, founder of the gallery, specifies its ambitions: “Chelsea remains an important hub of the New York contemporary art scene. David Zwirner to open in Hong Kong

The David Zwirner gallery has announced the opening of a new space in Hong Kong, scheduled for 2017. This new space, intended to host six exhibitions per year, has been designed by New York architect Annabelle Selldorf. David Zwirner has justified the opening of the new space in this way: “We have seen literally explosive growth in the interest for Western art among Asian collectors.” Covering around 10,000 m2, the space will occupy the 5th and 6th floors of the H Queen building constructed by architect William Lim from the CL3 Architects agency that offers flexible spaces meeting ecological standards. This development confirms David Zwirner’s ambitions in China, after flirting with the idea of opening a gallery in Beijing and Shanghai. Opening of the Bellechasse gallery in Miami

The 55Bellechasse Gallery is opening in Miami at the 7111 North Miami Avenue Studio Complex. To celebrate this event, an opening night entitled ”Beautiful Night n1” was organized on 21 June, following the model of the French Fête de la Musique. Accompanied by the group Millionyoung, the saxophonist Leon Morley, and Rara Roots Rock Rasin, the event was organized by the JAMM Project with support of Next Level Fairs. Gilbert & George open a space in London

The duo Gilbert & George is opening a new art centre in east London, at Spitalfields, where they lived and worked for over 40 years. A charity called Sir Solutions, set up in 2010 and managed by the Gilbert & George Centre, is a non-profit foundation for contemporary art whose action is geared towards the common good, with an aim of promoting and supporting public education in the domain of arts, namely through contemporary-art exhibitions in different spaces. Christie’s opens a Beijing space

Christie’s will be opening an exhibition space in Beijing. The project is being supervised by Rebecca Wei, President of Christie’s Asia. Despite the slowdown of the Chinese art market in 2015, the auction house is continuing to develop in the country that is nonetheless the world’s biggest art market with among the highest growth prospects.
