Nuit Blanche 2016

Paris, by night. The 2016 Edition of Nuit Blanche was unveiled by Bruno Julliard, assistant director of the Paris city hall, and Jean de Loisy, artistic director for the event. The Nuit Blanche 2016 will be held on Saturday 1 October from 7 PM until the early hours of the morning. The principle of the Nuit Blanche is to cover Paris during the night, following a path that goes along the Seine, starting at Hôtel de Ville to the Île aux Cygnes. The 2016 Edition was conceived as a reference to Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, a 1457 Italian novel that tells the story of Poliphile, who was pursuing Polia, a woman with whom he was hopelessly in love. This voyage will occur in the heart of Paris, with the Seine acting as an Ariane’s thread. The Nuit Blanche provides the opportunity to visit Paris in another way, and split into 12 chapters punctuated by the presentation of various artists: Abraham Poincheval, Alain Séchas, Olivier Beer, Stéphane Thidet, Fabrice Hyber, Bridget Polk, and Alain Fleischer. Created in 2002, the Nuit Blanche is free and open to the public. A major success, the initiative has been copied in 25 cities around the...

The Emerige endowment fund, loyal to its commitment to the creation of contemporary art, has announced its diverse activities of patronage and financial support for the coming months. Just like Valérie Belin’s exhibition currently on display at the Centre Pompidou, several other exhibitions and artistic events in France will profit from the endowment fund’s support. These include, amongst others, the Gérard Darouste exhibition, which is taking place until 29 November at the Fondation Maeght de Saint-Paul de Vence, as well as the exhibition of the 11 shortlisted artists of the Bourse Révélations Emerige, hosted by the Emerige Villa from 6 until 22 November 2015. Emerige is also contributing to the organisation of events such as the “AD Intérieurs” exhibition, as well as to Paris’ 14th Nuit Blanche. Emerige joins the first, by presenting, from 5 to 20 September, six artworks from the Laurent Dumas collection, honouring the trends of the highest award. For the second, of whom it is a partner, Emerige contributes to the exhibition of artists in Paris’ 17th arrondissement, with the commission of a long-lasting artwork by artist Tobias Rehberger, which is to be exhibited at the metro station Pont-Cardinet. Lastly, Emerige will carry on its patronage activities at the Académie de France in Rome, where the endowment fund is financing the residency of one of the artists selected by the jury for the visual...

Paris, 3 February 2014, Art Media Agency (AMA). The mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, and his cultural secretary Bruno Julliard, have named José-Manuel Gonçalvès artistic director of the city’s 13th edition of Nuit Blanche, to take place on 4 October 2014. Gonçalvès has followed an unusual career path: leaving school with no qualifications, he abandoned his certificate in metalwork at the last minute to become a tennis teacher – and is now director of the Centquatre exhibition space in Paris. He took over the institution in 2010, revitalising it to form a dynamic creative space which houses 200 artists in residence. Gonçalvès’ diverse range of experience also includes directing the Ferme du Buisson, one of France’s national theatres in Marne-la-Vallée. A statement released by the mayor’s office commented: “Throughout his career, José-Manuel Gonçalvès has continued to reinvent the dialogues between art, spaces and the...
