Annette Schönholzer has been hired to be administrative director of the Kunstmuseum in Basel as of January 2017. Boca Raton Museum hires curator Lanya Snyder

Lanya Snyder is joining the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida as assistant curator for its contemporary-art and photography collection. Snyder will be in charge of the exhibition programme, along with Kathy Goncharov, the curator for contemporary art, and Marisa J. Pascucci, the curator of collections. David M. Rubenstein appointed chairman of the Smithsonian Institution

Cofounder of the Carlyle Group, an investment firm based in Washington DC, David M. Rubenstein has been elected chairman of the Smithsonian Institution, reports The Washington Post. Rubenstein, part of the institution’s board since 2009, succeeds John McCarter. In January this year, he donated $10 million to the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which then dedicated its main exhibition space to him, now known as the David M. Rubenstein History Galleries. Rubenstein is also board chair of Duke University and a board member of the University of Chicago, the Lincoln Center and the National Gallery of Art. The Smithsonian also appointed the founder of AOL, Steve Case, as vice chairman, and Risa J. Lavizzo-Mourey as president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
