The exhibition “Movie Scripts/ Art” featuring the work of John Baldessari  is on display at Marian Goodman gallery in New York until 22 November 2014. The exhibition presents new works by the acclaimed American artist in which he further explores the relationship between language and photography, pairing texts from film scripts with fragments of images from art history. The 83-year-old artist said he found the mix of high art and hollywood “amusing”. He first started to experiment with text and photography in the 1960s with his works Text paintings and Photo-text paintings. Baldessari spoke of getting the two mediums “close enough so there’s some sort of synapse and something new is created – it could … be Dr. Frankenstein-like or it could be meaningful. I do like when a third meaning is created. I find that quite interesting.”...

Marian Goodman Gallery exhibits David Goldblatt

From 6 September to the 18 October 2014, Marian Goodman Gallery in Paris, will be hosting an exhibition dedicated to photographer David Goldblatt. Born in South Africa, Goldblatt photographs landscapes in his native country with particular focus on the history of this region. Born in 1930, the artist followed the social and political evolution in South Africa, from the apartheid to the end of segregation, presenting an intimate view of local daily life. His work has been exhibited in some of the most prestigious galleries in London, Melbourne, Sydney, New York, Lisbon, Madrid and Paris. Marian Goodman Gallery to open in London in October

London, 19 March 2014, Art Media Agency (AMA). Following the unveiling of the location of her new exhibition space to open in London, Marian Goodman has recently revealed the gallery’s opening date. The gallery is situated at 20 Golden Square — next to Piccadilly Circus — in what was a warehouse belonging to luxury cloth merchants Holland & Sherry. It is to open its doors on 14 October 2014. This is to be the third Marian Goodman Gallery to open, in addition to her existing galleries in Paris and on 57th Street in New York. Marian Goodman to exhibit Oscar Murillo in Paris

Paris, 10 December 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA). The Marian Goodman Gallery is to present a solo exhibition of works by artist Oscar Murillo in May 2014, announced a gallery spokesperson to The Observer newspaper. Based in London, the Colombian artist, 27, is one of the most promising contemporary artists, an idea which is highlighted by the evolution of his prices. His canvas Untitled (Drawings off the wall) (2011) sold for $401,000 at Phillips, New York, last September. The Art Show celebrates 26 years

New York, 29 October 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA). The oldest Fine Arts fair in the United States is to take place from 5 to 9 March 2014 in New York. The Art Show, organised by the Art Dealers Association of America — ADAA — has announced its dates and participants for its 26th edition. The event receives funding from the nonprofit social services organisation Henry Street Settlement. Dorsey Waxter, President of the ADAA, emphasised the qualities that distinguish The Art Show from other art fairs, explaining: “Given the proliferation of art fairs, ADAA’s fair remains unique. Whether it is a solo or two-person show, or a thematic presentation, each booth at The Art Show is a finely curated exhibition.” The event features works by modern artists as well as contemporary avant-garde pieces.
