Google to celebrate summer with Takashi Murakami

Mountain View, California, 21 June 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA). Google selected Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to commemorate the summer solstice. The 21 June “Google” logo, also called “Doodle” by the Internet users, was designed by the artist. According to British paper The Guardian, Google personally commissioned Murakami to produce the multicoloured cartoon, titled “The First Day of Summer”. The doodles often change but are rarely completed by artists. It would seem that Google is emphasizing its growing interest in the world of art and culture.
