ShanghART gallery, Shanghai, is currently hosting a solo exhibition by Jiang Pengyi on show until 25 August 2014. The exhibition will feature three series created by the photographer over the past two years: Dark Addiction, Intimacy and The Suspended Moment. For Dark Addiction, Jiang Pengyi photographed the tracks of fireflies inside a camera obscura, resulting in chaotic swirls of light; Intimacy looks at light in a different way, as the artist created photographed fluorescent paper resulting in minimalist blocks of colour. The Suspended Moment depicts frozen water from the reservoirs of northern China.  Jiang Pengyi, from Hunan province, China, has exhibited across the world and in 2011 was awarded the Aletti ArtVerona Prize for...

Klein Sun Gallery exhibits Jiang Pengyi in New York

Until 21 June, Klein Sun Gallery in New York is exhibiting the work of Chinese photographer Jiang Pengyi for the first time. Entitled “Glimpses”, the exhibition presents two series: Unregistered City and Everything Illuminates. In the former, the artist focuses on  sociopolitical perspectives, exploring the notions of destruction, urbanisation, and social development, whilst in Everything Illuminates, he approaches spiritual and philosophical themes, using long exposures and phosphorescent powder mixed with wax.
