Kwang Young Chun at Hasted Kraeutler

An exhibition of new works by Korean artist Kwang Young Chun is to be held until 1 November 2014 at the Hasted Kraeutler gallery, New York, to celebrate his four-decade-long career as he approaches his 70th birthday. The exhibition is to display new works from his “Aggregations” series, begun in the 1990s, which are made up of hundreds of small polystyrene triangles covered in hanji (handmade Korean paper) affixed to canvases. This gives the pieces a sculptural effect, creating waves of colour formed by the individual triangles which are both in themselves objects for study, and also form part of the larger surface when viewed from afar. Rómulo Celdrán now represented by Hasted Kraeutler gallery

New York, 13 January 2014, Art Media Agency (AMA). The Spanish artist Rómulo Celdrán, famous for his gigantic versions of everyday objects, is now being represented by gallery Hasted Kraeutler in New York. Born in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria in 1973, the artist has, until now, mainly been exhibited in Spain. Speaking about his work, he explains: “It acts like a camera lens, giving a sense of scale to the way in which we see what we are looking at, and to break the relationship between an object’s real size and the size that we see.
