American collectors launch a new contemporary-art site in New York

Collectors Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu have announced the inauguration of a new contemporary-art site in Cold Spring, New York, to host their collection of 400 Italian post-war and contemporary works, including a certain number of arte povera pieces. Giulio Paolini at Galleria Tucci Russo

Galleria Tucci Russo in Italy, is exhibiting the work of Giulio Paolini until 28 September 2014, as part of the exhibition “In Esilio”. The artist employs a variety of media within his work, including: installation, photography, collage, sculpture and drawing. Giulio Paolini at Whitechapel Gallery

Whitechapel Gallery presents the first major UK exhibition of Giulio Paolini’s work since 1980: “To Be or Not to Be”. Co-curated by guest curator Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Daniel F. Herrmann, it is to run from 9 July until 14 September 2014. “To Be or Not to Be” presents several of the artist’s key works from the 1960s to the present day, as well as a new installation created specially for the show. Referencing William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the exhibition explores the relationship between the artist and the artwork through sculpture, installation and photography. Giulio Paolini was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1940, and he currently lives and works in Turin. Recent solo shows have been presented at: Yvon Lambert Gallery, Paris (2009); Galleria Borghese, Rome (2008); and Galleria Christian Stein, Milan (2007). Giulio Paolini exhibited for the sixth time at the Galleria Massimo Minini

Brescia, 7 March 2012, Art Media Agency (AMA). The Galleria Massimo Minini is displaying the exhibition “Giulio Paolini” until 10 March 2012. In his press release, the gallery explained that the Italian artist made four large new works for the occasion, each occupying one room. The titles hark back to works the artist exhibited in the Massimo Minini gallery during previous exhibitions. The press release specified that it was the sixth time that Giulio Paolini had exhibited his works in this gallery in Brescia. “Although these images are new and unexpected, they incorporate the accumulated marks of our mutual history”, says the invitation ― a copy of a letter written by artist and sent to the gallery owner. Born in 1940, Giulio Paolini studied at the battista Bodoni State Industrial Technical School of Graphics and Photography, graduating in 1959. His first work, Disegno geometrico, was completed in 1960.
