Count Duerckheim makes important donation to British Museum

London, 10 December 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA). Count Christian Duerckheim has made a donation to the British Museum of works from post-war Germany. According to The Guardian, the 70-year-old “anglophilic German industrialist” has offered 34 major works by artists such as Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke and A.R. Penck. The donation also includes 60 engravings and drawings, which are to be exhibited at a free exhibition starting in February 2014. Count Duerckheim was a resident of the United Kingdom in the 1960s, and sold a large part of his collection in 2011, including the work Skater by Gerhard Richter. “The exhibition and my collection is a story of change and movement, of life in progress”, he stated to The Guardian. “I have always felt this constant change and have gone with it, very much inspired by the artists I have collected.
