Cevdet Erek at AKINCI

Running until 24 January 2015, AKINCI gallery, Amsterdam, is presenting the exhibition “Faça” by Cevdet Erek. The titular piece takes the artist’s impressions of entering a new city for the first time and combines them with a research project on Greek avant-garde urban planner and architect Constantinos Doxiadis, along with fragments from the Greek architectural magazine Arkitektoniki from the 1970s.The Faça Ornamentations (2014), specially composed for the exhibition and the space at AKINCI, echoes his earlier work and aims to create a panoptic experience. Erek has featured in solo exhibitions across Europe and group exhibitions at such prestigious institutions as Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam; MAXXI, Rome; Palais de Tokyo, Paris and Tate Modern,...
