Frédéric Lénica, appointed director of Audrey Azoulay’s cabinet

Frédéric Lénica has been appointed director of the cabinet of the new French Minister of Culture and Communication, Audrey Azoulay. General manager of CSA since 2014, Frédéric Lénica is taking over form Fabrice Bakhouche — who is expected to be appointed French Ambassador in Rome. His mission will namely be to oversee the bill on “Freedom of creation, architecture and heritage” instigated by former minister Fleur Pellerin, and to be brought into being by Audrey Azoulay. Olivier Michelon Appointed Chief Curator at Fondation Louis Vuitton

Olivier Michelon have been appointed as new chief curator of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, in Paris, from March 2016. Olivier Michelon, who has been at the Musée des Abattoirs—the FRAC institution in the Midi-Pyrenees region—for over three years, will leave his position in Toulouse to become the new chief curator at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris next March. Michelon was appointed as head of Les Abattoirs in March 2012, when he was 36 years old. He previously worked at the Musée départemental d’art contemporain de Rochechouart, in the French region of Haute-Vienne. In the meantime, he will still oversee the Toulouse museum’s upcoming exhibition featuring Antoni Tàpies, which opens on February 12. Fiona Gasper to Direct Manchester International Festival

Fiona Gasper has been appointed as executive director for the Manchester International Festival happening in March 2016. Gasper succeeds Jim Forrester, who oversaw the festival’s 2013 and 2015 editions. Gasper arrives at the Festival after five years as director at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre; prior to her work there, she was executive producer of Liverpool’s 2008 European Capital of Culture Program. In 2009 she was awarded a MBE for her service to the arts. Gasper said: “I am really thrilled to be joining John at MIF but have relished my time in helping to shape the Exchange into an organisation which is hugely relevant to theatre-making in all its forms in Manchester and nationally.” Conceived as a biennial event presenting original works that mixes artists from the performing and visual arts with artists from popular culture, the Festival launched in 2007 with Alex Poots and Peter Saville as co-directors. Ursula Davila-Villa appointed partner at Alexander Gray Associates

Ursula Davila-Villa has been appointed a partner at Alexander Gray Associates. She joins the Gallery from the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas, where she served as the Associate Curator of Latin American Art from 2005-2012. During this time, she organised and curated exhibitions and programmes, including “Waltercio Caldas” (2012); “Trienal Poli/Gráfica de San Juan” (2012), “Recovering Beauty: the 1990s in Buenos Aires” (2011), “Manuel Alvarez Bravo and His Contemporaries” (2010); and “The New York Graphics Workshop” (2008). She was awarded a Curatorial Excellence Award in 2011 from the Apple Valley Foundation. Prior to her work at the Blanton Museum, she held positions at the Cai Guo-Qiang studio, Galeria OMR, Mexico City; the Guggenheim Museum, New York; and Art in General, New York. She holds an MA in Museum Studies from New York University and a BA in Architecture and Urbanism from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico, and has also studied at, amongst others, the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico; Université Laval, Quebec; and the Getty Leadership...

Robert Cozzolino named curator of paintings at Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Minneapolis Institute of Arts has announced Robert Cozzolino as their new Patrick and Aimee Butler Curator of Paintings. A graduate from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Cozzolino went on to serve eleven years at the Philadelphia museum, where he is currently a senior curator and the Evelyn and Will Kaplan Curator of Modern Art. At PAFA, he held exhibitions of American painters such as Elizabeth Osborne and George Tooker. In 2014, Cozzolino curated “David Lynch: The Unified Field,” the director’s first-ever major museum show, and he is currently working on a major survey of American artists during World War I for PAFA.
