New York, 21 March 2014, Art Media Agency (AMA).

The Outsider Art Fair (OAF) is to take place between 8 and 11 May 2014 in New York’s Chelsea district, in the previous headquarters of the Dia Art Foundation.

Taking place in the spring for the first time, the event is to follow Frieze Week in New York. OAF was established in 1993 by Sanford Smith, who has since seen the fair receive considerable success on both an artistic and commercial level.

The fair is dedicated to presenting and exhibiting artists who do not usually receive much visibility, an unusual approach for art market events. In a press release, participating artists are referred to as “obscure”, “neglected”, or even “invisible”. A total of 47 galleries are to feature in this latest edition, including new exhibitors Marlborough Chelsea, Hirschl & Adler, and Zieher Smith.
