Works by contemporary artist Michaela Meise (1976), are to be sold via “The Spotlight”, an online platform specialising in collector-to-collector sales.
The Spotlight is to present a sculpture by the artist, which originally appear at Johann König gallery as part of an exhibition entitled Lachende Steine (Laughing Stones). Meise studied at Frankfurt’s Städelschule, and has had recent solo exhibitions in galleries including Johann König (2013); Standard Oslo (2013), Grazer Kunstverein (2011), and Almine Rech (2010). Recent group exhibitions have been held at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (2013), Marres Maastricht Centre for Contemporary Culture, (2012), and quartier21/MQ, Vienna (2011).
The Spotlight is run by Florian Baron (Germany), Gregory Linn (US) and Clayton Press (US). The organisation specialises in original art works and exceptional editions by “well-regarded artists who are part of the contemporary canon.” Its 24-hour portal allows collectors to buy and sell works of art priced under $100,00. Negotations are welcomed, and works in excess of $100,000 are posted in private offers.
