The 23rd general conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) ended on 17 August 2013 with the re-election of its president Hans Martin Hinz. The latter has been in office since 2010. He has also served as councillor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in West Berlin, member of the Berlin Historical Museum, and deputy Minister of Culture.
Carlos Roberto Brandão was his only competitor for the position.
Besides, six new resolutions have been adopted on the same day, regarding the ICOM functioning, the missions included in their code of ethics, and burning-urgent issues. Hans Martin Hinz declare himself very concerned by the situation in Egypt.
