Singapore, 2 August 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA).
From 24 August to 6 October 2013, the Michael Janssen gallery in Singapore will present an exhibition on the works of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.
Entitled “Baby Formula”, the event makes a direct reference to the contaminated milk scandal which hit China in 2008. The artist was directly affected by the scandal, with his son only 4 years old at the time, using twitter to spread news of events to a wider audience. Works presented at Michael Janssen include a series of prints featuring extracts from his tweets concerning the health scandal. These prints are to be displayed alonside an installation measuring 80 square metres, composed of over 1,800 boxes of baby formula.
Ai Weiwei’s focus on political and social subjects has lead him to become one of China’s best known artist.
