Organisers behind the 12th Biennale de Lyon have released details about 9 new works, commissioned especially for the event from an international selection of artists.
Brazilian artist Jonathas de Andrade produces conceptual installations which highlight the amnesia affecting some of the social, political, cultural and ideological realities of today’s world. New York-based artist Trisha Baga is to produce a new installation based on the theme of climate change, which will examine the difference between video projection and paintings. A group piece from “The Bruce High Quality Foundation,” whose members wish to remain anonymous, have produced a work which looks at “breathing, healing and the psyche.”
Other artists whose works will be featured in the Biennale include Ed Fornieles, (b.1983, Winchester, UK), Tavares Strachan (b.1979, Nassau, Bahamas), Nate Lowman (b.1979, Las Vegas), Yang Fudong (b.1971, Hebei, China), Xavier Cha (b.1980, Los Angeles), Georgia Sagri (b.1979, Athens).
The Lyon Biennale is to take place between 12 September 2013 and 5 January 2014.
