From 30 June to 30 August 2013, the Gildo Pastor gallery is to host an exhibition of works by Paul Wright.
Though predominantly known for his portraiture, the exhibition at Gildo Pastor is to examine the whole of the artist’s corpus. When depicting his subjects, Wright seeks to display a sense of their “soul”, and to produce works which show a direct relation to traditional portraiture techniques. Commenting on his technique, Paul Wright explained that he strives to “develop a pictorial language” which captures “a soul supplement, way beyond the simple ‘resemblance of the subject.’”
Paul Wright was awarded the BP Portrait Award, as part of an exhibition organised by the National Portrait of Gallery in London.
