Indianapolis, 2 April 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA).
From 5 April 2013 to 21 July 2013, the Indianapolis Museum of Art will present the first large retrospective in North America devoted to Ai Weiwei.
Titled “Ai Weiwei: According to What?,” the event comes back on the twenty years of the artist’s career, during which he created works exploring universal themes such as culture, history, politics and traditions.
Ai Weiwei is one of the most prolific and challenging contemporary Chinese artists. All throughout his career, he mixed art with social issues and individual experiences. This retrospective exhibition will be presenting sculptures, photographs, videos and installations in situ.
“Ai Weiwei: According to What?” is organised by the Mori Art Museum, in collaboration with the artist, and was presented for the first time in Tokyo in 2009. The exhibition was completed for its tour in America and will be presenting more recent works.
