A strange party was organised by Randy Palumbo on his “Love Stream” exhibition’s opening, at the Steven Kasher Gallery. This “Sex Party” as he called it, clearly evidenced the theme of his creations: sex.
For this occasion, his works, sex toys and other items gathered in small bunches and lighted by LEDS hanged on the walls. Journalists and other guests were welcomed by three women wearing “revisited” nurse uniforms. At the entrance, recalls Michael H. Miller from GalleristNY, the guests had to choose an animal they assimilated with and describe it in one word. Then they had to choose one colour among the various proposed and describe it in one word. When this was done, the “nurse” wrote down all these information on a small card worn by the guests.
The major attraction of the party, the “love pod”, was actually a rather narrow place where the guests had to go in pairs. They faced there women calling themselves “sex oracles”, a modern version of ancient oracles revisited by the artist. The couples had to tell them their fantasies and desires, all this being probably an initiation allowing them to aptly discover and appreciate Randy Palumbo’s art.
