New York, 20 September 2012. Art Media Agency (AMA).
From 28 September to 10 November 2012, the Pratt Manhattan Gallery will present an exhibition titled “Party Headquarters: Art in the Age of Political Absurdity”.
In these times of elections in the United States, the exhibition, organised by the curators Eleanor Heartney and Larry Litt, enlights the tradition of satiric political caricatures. They have been present in the press for some centuries now. In this world where everything is being politicised, these caricatures often provoke debates and conflicts. They expose to the public the influence of avarice, money and religion on politics: everything contradicting the American dream.
Works by 14 artists will be exhibited, including works by Donna Catanzao, Enrique Chagoya, Kara Maria, Greta Pratt or Duke Riley. Furthermore, a mobile polling installation designed by Duke Riley will run the streets of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
