“Slimmer and stronger” second annual Nada Hudson fair

The second annual pop-up exhibition put on by New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), which took place from 28 to 29 July 2012 at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, New York, was described as being “slimmer” (with fewer works) than its first edition, but far “stronger” (of better quality).

For NADA’s first annual event, participating galleries almost entirely filled the exhibition space. This year, each gallery was allowed to only display one work. According to the website Artinfo.com on 30 July 2012, Nada Hudson’s new concept is reminiscent of other “curated” fairs such as Volta. Moreover, it makes the general experience more enjoyable and allows visitors to spend more time in front of the works.

Among the event’s most notable attractions were William Sone’s Buddha, displayed in a telephone booth for the James Fuentes Gallery, and Chris Fraser’s light installation for Highlight Gallery. In the event’s theatre-like area, Jonathan Ehrenberg, from the Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, displayed a surrealist video; artist Amy Globus showed an animation made using human body scans.

Artinfo reported that participating gallery owners noticed that numerous collectors were in attendance. However, sales were not the event’s primary focus.
