Beirut, 22 June 2012, Art Media Agency (AMA).
From 5 to 8 July 2012, the third edition of MENASART Fair, now called Beirut Art Fair, will take place. Setting a precedent, the organisers have decided to focus on comic books by artists from Maghreb, Asia or the Middle East.
This year, Beirut Art Fair is displaying for the first time an exhibition dedicated to comic books. More than thirty original drawings will be displayed. The comic book corner offers, through the “Ninth art”, a different vision of art, from Maghreb to Asia without forgetting the Middle East. It enables viewers to discover how the comic books writers see the political, social and economic reality of their countries. Zein Abirached, Mazen Kerbai, and Jorj Mhaya come from Lebanon, Nadia Khiari from Tunisia, Mohamed El Sharkawi, Madgi El Shafi, Mohamed Khaled, and Amer el Shomali are from Egypt, Gyps is Algerian and Nie Chongrui, Zhao Golo, and Zong Kai come from China.
This dedicated space will allow a dialogue between civilisations, a communication between the different artistic spirits with the help of a mutual language: comic books.
