Over the course of March and June 2012, auction house Pierre Bergé & Associés will be holding a series of auctions at its premises at 40 place du Grand Sablon in Brussels.
The first of this series is a sale of Scandanavian design and will take place at 2pm on 25 March 2012. It will see works by designer Alvar Aalto go under the hammer, as well as seminal pieces by master Finnish designers:
- Lamp on a pedestal A 809 by Alvar Aalto (1898-1976), enamelled metal and leather, estimate €10,000 – €15,000;
- PH-Septima by Poul Henningsen (1894-1967), circa 1930, estimate €30,000 and €40,000;
- Chaise longue JH-524 by Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007), circa 1958, estimate €28,000 and €35,000.
The sales to follow include “1880-1960″ – furniture, paintings and sculptures from 1880 to 1960 – on 18 April at 2pm, “Shabby chic” – unusual decorative objects – on Monday 23 April, as well as “MOA” – furniture and works of arts – on Tuesday 15 May 2012. The June auctions are set to take place on 4 and 5 of the month, with the first being a sale of jewellery and the second, entitled “1945-2012″ to feature furniture, paintings and sculptures.
The personal collections of Cleto Murani – design, glassware, furniture and jewellery – as well as unique pieces, prototypes, and limited editions from Christian Austuguevielle’s collection will be up for auction on Tuesday 24 April and Wednesday 13 June.
