Sotheby’s – Hong Kong 2012 Spring sales will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 31 March to 4 April 2012. The series of sales will include Chinese ceramics and other works of Chinese art, alongside contemporary art from the region, jewellery, watches and wines. In total, 2,900 lots to be auctioned are expected to fetch around 1.8 billion Hong Kong Dollars (233 million USD).
The most valuable lots will be exhibited throughout March: in Jakarta on 2 and 3, Shanghai on 7 and 8, Beijing on 10 and 11, Chengdu on 13 and 4, Singapore on 17 and 18, Bangkok on 20 and 21 and then in Taipei on 24 and 25. Finally, from 31 March to 3 April, all of the lots to be put up for auction will be displayed at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre while the auctions themselves are going on, which will finish on 4 April.
Works to be displayed at the auction include;
- Northern Song Dynasty, a Chinese ceramic piece by Ruyao Washer, estimated between HK$60 and 80 million ($7.7 and 10.3 million);
- Bloodline – Big Family: Family No.2 (1995), oil on canvas by Zhang Xiaogang, estimated between HK$25 and 35 million ($3.2 and 4.5 million);
- 25.06.86 (1986), oil on canvas by Zao Wou-Ki, estimated between HK$18 and 28 million ($2.3 and 3.6 million);
- A Good Dog (1995), oil on canvas by Liu Wei, estimated between HK$12 and 15 million ($1.5 and 1.9 million).
