Miguel Ángel Recio becomes head of the Institute of Aesthetic Arts and Music

Miguel Ángel Recio, Director General at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, will replace Felix Palomero as head of the Institute of Aesthetic Arts and Music (INAEM).

Born in Santander in 1965, Miguel Ángel Recio Crespo studied law at the University of Salamanca. He was the technical coordinator of the Spanish International Cooperation Agency, secretary-general of the Government Delegation in Madrid, and director in chief of the National Heritage Council. In 1999, he became vice-president of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. Miguel Ángel Recio has previously been an international relations consultant  to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce before becoming an advisor to the Treasury and of financial policy to the Ministry of the Economy. In December 2008, he was named as general director of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum by the institution’s governing council.

The previous incumbent of the post had been Felix Palomero, who held the position from 2009. He was appointed by the Minister of Culture, Angeles-Gonzalez-Sinde.
