Dubai, 6 December 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA).
Ayyam gallery in Dubai will host “Tammam Azzam – Dirty Laundry”, from 19 December to 26 January 2012.
Tammam Azzam, born in 1980, is among the youngest Syrian emerging talents in the contemporary Arab scene. He graduated from the Fine Arts department in Damascus and was specialised in oil painting. Earlier this year, he joined the Al Kharif Academy under the direction of master, Marwan Kassab Bashi. He also participated in two projects entitled, “Stories from the Levant” and displayed at Scope Art Fair (Basel) in 2009, as well as at Art Miami 2010.
The solo exhibition will promote Azzam’s recent painting series, “Dirty Laundry”, made from everyday objects such as ropes, torn clothes or found objects. The vivid coloured or black and white hybrid works – always in contrast – offer multiple visual possibilities.
From 2006 onwards, Ayyam Gallery has become an attractive pole of the Middle Eastern contemporary art, and has recently attended the Abu Dhabi Art fair (in November) and the Menascart Fair in Beirut (in July).
