American artist Ed Ruscha and his “Hollywood” serigraph will lead the 12 July sale of ancient and contemporary prints at Bonhams London.
The star lot is a serigraph by Ed Ruscha, printed in 100 copies and signed by the artist. The pre-auction estimates range from £20,000 to £30,000. The piece will be presented side by side with other serigraphs by American master Andy Warhol. Mao, 1972 is valued at £25,000 to £30,000. In addition, Lyz, a portrait of Elizabeth Taylor dating from 1964, is estimated at £20,000 to £30,000. Among the other Pop Art artists on display are Alex Katz and Tom Wesselmann.
The sale will first focus on old masters, such as German Albrecht Dürer and Dutch Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn, whose various pieces will lead the section.
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Henri Jaques Édouard Evenpoel, Paul Nash, Leon Underwood and Henri Matisse, amongst other, will also be presented at Bonhams. The total lots are available on the house’s website.
