Mike Kelley is, once again, going to be the object of an exhibition at Hauser & Wirth in New York, from 3 November to 23 December. This is the first time since 2001 that the Memory Ware works are being presented. Two dozen of the 100 works from the series created by Kelley between 2000 and 2010 will be exhibited, many now belonging to private collectors or museum collections. This series is inspired by popular art traditions in the black communities of America’s south and Britain’s Victorian era. To accompany the exhibition, a new catalogue presenting all the works from the series will be published, including an essay by Ralph Rugoff, director of the cin London.
