The Tate has hired Michael Wellen as curator of international art. Michael Wellen, who will be taking up his duties in December, will be responsible for developing the representation of Latin American art in the Tate Modern’s collection and exhibition programme. Wellen has been assistant curator in the Latin American department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston since 2011. He was previously a researcher at the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art in Austin and a lecturer at Rice University, where he taught on Latin American art and films since the 1960s.
