The Boghossian Foundation – Villa Empain (Brussels) is starting a new phase in its development by appointing Louma Salamé as its general manager and Asad Rasa as its artistic director.
The Boghossian Foundation is an art centre aiming to strengthen dialogue between Western and Eastern cultures. Created in 1992 by Robert Boghossian and his two sons Jean and Albert Boghossian, Lebanese jewellers of Armenian origin, the foundation focuses on youth and education while working to improve living conditions in Lebanon and Armenia. The foundation acquired Villa Empain in 2006 and entirely renovated it. Since 2012, it has organised the Boghossian Foundation prize, awarded every year in Beirut to recognize three up-and-coming Lebanese artists.
From 20 February to 24 April 2016, the foundation is hosting an exhibition on Dansaekhwa, the Korean artistic movement born in the 1970s. This is the first exhibition on the movement to be held in Belgium.
