The Nassau County Museum of Art, Rosalyn, New York, has announced the appointment of Angela Susan Anton as president of the board of trustees. Anton is to replace outgoing president Clarence F. Michalis, who will take on the position of executive vice president.

Anton is a long-time member of the board of trustees, and has previously served as chairman of the annual Museum Ball. The Long Island-native is the publisher of Anton Community Newspapers, a group of community newspapers with a readership of 150,000, and is a noted philanthropist as well as business leader. Anton has said of her involvement with not-for-profit organisations: “I always felt there was a need for community newspapers to be involved with charities,” explaining, “I think it’s a way of reaching out to the communities we serve.”

Located 25 miles from New York City, the Nassau County Museum of Art is amongst the biggest suburban art museums in the United States, and features an extensive sculpture garden with works by the likes of Richard Serra, Mark di Suvero, and Richard Nonas.
